Karen bought these vintage skates a while back and I helped her with the photography but she never got around to painting them. Over time they just got forgotten. I came across the images recently and really liked them. I asked her if I could "steal" one of them and she said, "Sure, I couldn't make them work". It was a really fun image to paint. I even used Karen's black background technique that she uses for a lot of her still lifes. Anyway, that's the story. Now I'm onto a rather large commsion. Daunting.
