Big Drill No. 3

Big Drill No. 3   |   24 x 36   |   oil on canvas

I've been involved with quite a few, non art related, jobs during the last six weeks, but Big Drill No. 3 is finally done. My task now is to get back into painting mode and start producing new work. What to do?

This one is surely for a select audience -- of which I'm definitely a part! A big ol' honkin 1/2" Shopmate drill -- awesome. On the art side, another Hollingsworth tonal tour de force. Nearly monochromatic (basically), except for that oxidized chuck and your signature blue reflected accents. Perfect placement of subject, and absolute stroke of genius with that coiled cord to offset the otherwise-static composition! Neil - if you ever need someone to articulate the essence of your work for a bio or something, I'm your man! For those who think these austere still lifes must not be that difficult, try it sometime. Even without the considerable rendering skills, what's left is exquisite balance. Yeah, you could say I'm a fan... ;)

Hey Steve - Thanks (as always) for the wonderful comments, and I may take you up on the bio rewrite one day. You've definitely got the skills (I lack) to word up what I do. Thanks for the offer! Neil

Excellent paintings. You sure have more patience than the average artist.

Beautifully done. This one brings back memories of my dad's...it wasn't grounded and I was.
