Panchito: B-25 No.2

Panchito - 40 x 40 - oil on canvas

This is my final painting for the Tree's Place Gallery show July 9th on Cape Cod. The majority of my paintings were of a modest size, topping out at 18 x 24, so the gallery requested one large painting to act as a centerpiece. I chose to do another B-25. I had a lot of crops of this subject that I liked, and this was one of my favorites. It was indulgent to go this route again so soon I know, but I was dying to do (at least) one more version of this old Warbird.

Panchito is the face of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) at air shows around the United States. They fly in to acknowledge the service these men and women provided to their country, inform the public about disabled veteran's unique needs, and help raise funds to provide support.

I love it,I like the large portion of blue sky above the plane,it makes it feel as if the plane is yearning to fly.

This is a great composition ~ that expanse of sky above the plane works really well. In fact, the whole picture is poetry!
